KC Wilkerson is a theatrical lighting and video designer based in southern California. He has designed a wide variety of plays, musicals, specials events, concerts, promotional tours, and other projects around the world.
Awards include two LA Drama Critics Circle Awards (Lighting Design and Video Design), LA Stage Alliance Ovation Honors Award (Video Design), a Backstage Garland Award (Lighting Design), and two StageScene LA Awards (Projection Designer of the Year, Outstanding Lighting Design). Additionally, he was a double-nominee for the LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards (Lighting Design).
A professional member of the Association of Lighting Designers and the Educational Theatre Association, KC’s work has been published in Live Design, Stage Directions, Lighting & Sound America, Sound & Communications, and Entertainment Design; and he recently contributed to Anne McMills’ book, The Assistant Lighting Designers’ Toolkit.
When not in a darkened theater, KC shares his knowledge and insight with theater students; conducting design, programming, entertainment technology, and career workshops with the International Thespian Festival, the California State Thespian Festival (where he sits on the board of directors), and local schools and colleges. He also speaks regularly at lighting conferences (LDI, Lightfair, and USITT).
In addition to his design work, he is an accomplished photographer, having shown in several galleries in southern California.
